Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced VMware Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in virtualization technologies, with specific experience in Department of Defense (DoD) environments. This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our VMware infrastructure while ensuring compliance with DoD security requirements. Active Secret Clearance is required

We are seeking an experienced VMware Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in virtualization technologies, with specific experience in Department of Defense (DoD) environments. This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our VMware infrastructure while ensuring compliance with DoD security requirements. Active Secret Clearance is required
There are a few requirements for the position:
- Must be a U.S Citizen - Authorized to Work in the US - Must be able to obtain a Active Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
- Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.
Required Qualifications
- 2-3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere administration (ESXi, vCenter)
- Active DoD Security Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with virtualization in DoD or federal government environments
- Strong knowledge of VMware products including vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments
- Understanding of information assurance (IA) and Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain VMware infrastructure according to DoD standards
- Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and resource optimization
- Manage virtual machine lifecycle including deployment, migration, and decommissioning
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Configure and maintain high availability (HA) and distributed resource scheduler (DRS)
- Troubleshoot complex issues across the virtual infrastructure
- Apply security patches and updates in accordance with DoD requirements
- Create and maintain documentation for systems and processes
- Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotation as needed
Technical Skills
- VMware vSphere 6.x/7.x administration
- VMware vCenter Server management
- Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, vSAN)
- Network virtualization and security
- Windows Server and Linux administration
- PowerCLI and automation scripting
- Backup and recovery tools
Desired Qualifications
- VMware certifications (VCP-DCV, VCAP)
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools
- Experience with configuration management tools
Additional Requirements
