The Opportunity:

You'll be a member of the Aegis Test Team, responsible for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Pulse Current Injection (PCI) testing of the Aegis Weapon System on DDG 51 Flight IIA and Flight III Class ships under construction at Bath Iron Works. You will also work as an AEGIS Computer Network Technician, responsible for troubleshooting and repairing hardware issues in the AEGIS computer suite.

Responsibilities:

  • Measure the Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) of all shipboard transmitters while underway for the EMI at Sea test
  • Test, measure, and verify proper grounding of electrical points of entry as part of the Pulse Current Injection (PCI) test
  • Generate and update hull penetration maps across different DDG 51 class hulls built at Bath Iron Works
  • Diagnose and repair issues discovered in the AEGIS Computing Infrastructure
  • Support other shipboard testing as required
  • Document any identified Test Procedure, element, or system problems
  • Provide status reports as required to cognizant individuals and organizations.


Qualifications:

  • A BS in an applicable technical field or at least 4 years experience in the US Navy or in a naval shipyard
  • Possess strong analytical skills and ability to communicate clearly in written and oral formats
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and with team members to accomplish testing
  • Candidate must have ability to attain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Capacity to work in a Shipyard Industrial Environment, including brief underway periods
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, work on ladders and in confined spaces


Desired:

  • Familiarity with shipboard cable installation, testing and maintenance
  • Familiarity with US Navy radar and/or communications equipment
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic and or signal theory
  • Experience with Microsoft Access or other database programs

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$39,500 - $79,000
