Network Installation Technician
This role has NO HOME BASE. 90% travel for work supporting the integration of the new DoDnet to field locations. 10% WFH. Most travel is CONUS, potential for OCONUS travel means ability to travel international is required. No two days are the same as you gain a plethora of new experiences traveling!
Major Responsibilities:
o There will be a need for coordination with planning and rack/stack/document and get people going as quick as possible.
o Our team members will need to install Thunderdome equipment, switch out router or access points for wireless.
o Will have to updated documentation and configuration
Additional Responsibilities:
• This technician will support a large federal agency's Network Infrastructure through survey, design, and deployment of structured networks and will be responsible for the upkeep of the security posture of the environment
• This is accomplished through projects such as new installations, life cycle replacement projects, Cable Plant and wireless installations that are compliant with commercial, TEMPEST, and NIST standards
• Lead network survey, design and installations under direction of the government
• analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks.
• Perform network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.
• Knowledge of DISA network topologies and standards
• Topology and rack elevations using Visio
• Create detailed Site Survey reports detailing a site's current infrastructure, NIST and TEMPEST compliance, along with design recommendations
• Configure, install, test, certify, and troubleshoot network infrastructure cabling
• Ensure Network cabling infrastructure is compliant with current NIST and TEMPEST Standards
• Build and install equipment racks
• Install, dress, label, and terminate Cat6 and Fiber cable in telecommunications rooms
• Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks
• Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure
• Track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Develop Bills of Material (BOM) for network plant design requirements
• Plan and perform preventive maintenance and scheduled upgrades (Life-cycle replacements)
• Investigate physical faults in the network
• Report network infrastructure deployment status to key stakeholders
Qualifications:
• Must hold an active Secret security clearance
• (US Citizenship required)
• Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree (Flexible)
• CCNA Certification (Strongly Desired)
• CompTIA Security+
