Background information:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Payroll Specialist to be based in our Arlington, Virginia office.

Overview:

As part of the accounting team, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the complete and accurate calculation of payroll, employee leave, maintenance and management of all records and distribution of payroll, taxes, deductions, and reporting. The specialist will support 400+ employees within a multistate environment.

All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Must have a complete understanding and working experience of how ADP Workforce Now setup is and operates.
  • Processes multi-state payrolls utilizing ADP.
  • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Load and process payroll and timesheet import files.
  • Reconciles payroll prior to transmission and validates confirmation reports.
  • Coordinate proper taxation of employer paid benefits and taxes in multiple states with ADP.
  • Process accurate and timely quarterly and year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c).
  • Record/Oversee payroll deductions such as tax withholding, 401(K), social security and other salary deductions.
  • Assist employees with questions regarding pay discrepancies and any payroll related questions.
  • Perform regular payroll reporting as required including general ledger entries, etc.
  • Process rate changes, new hire, terminations, and benefit deduction changes through coordination with the HR Benefits Manager.
  • Set up new states as required and coordinate with ADP on current payroll tax requirements and laws.
  • Supporting annual 401(K) audits and reviews
  • Coordinate participant education meetings with 401(K) advisory team.
  • Monitor 401(K) transactions and changes and answer inquiries as necessary.
  • Create standard and advanced reports in ADP.
  • Collaborate and support with other functional departments within the organization.
  • Proactively provides communication to employees on payroll relevant topics.
  • Other activities as needed within the accounting team.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with at least 5 years of progressive, relevant labor and payroll experience; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Required skills:

  • Payroll expert experience using ADP Workforce Now
  • Deltek Costpoint working experience with payroll related entries and reports

Preferred skills:

  • Payroll certification as a Certified Payroll Professional
