About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Software Developer t o join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The responsibilities will includes the design, development, test, and integration of prototype distributed systems software. As well as object-oriented development, developing distributed and cloud-based systems and services, developing RESTful web services, web application server development using containers, XML technologies including XSDs, XPATH, XSLT. The Software Developer will also be developing for a Linux environment, experience should especially include scripting, software deployment, network design and runtime automation. The Software Developer will be utilizing modern development tools such as ansible, Eclipse, maven, git, github, JIRA, Jenkins, Puppet, etc and applying skills in innovative, cutting-edge applications.

There are a few requirements for the position:
  • Must be a U.S Citizen- Authorized to Work in the US - Must be able to obtain a Active Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • This position is REMOTE, but you must be willing to travel to Lexington, MA 2/4 times a year.

  • 10 years - Data Architectures
  • Degree Level - Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years - Software/Algorithm Development
  • 10 years - Develop implementation architectures from requirements documents or high-level specifications
  • 10 years - Software Documentation
  • 10 years - Programming/ Backend Programming (SQL)
  • 5 years - Development experience on a Linux platform
  • 10 years- Development Tools (Eclipse, maven, git, github, JIRA, Jenkins, Puppet, etc.)
  • 10 years- GIT/GITHUB
  • 10 years - Java Development
  • 10 years - JavaScript Development
  • 10 years - MVC frameworks (Struts, Spring MVC, Play)
  • 10 years - Object Oriented Software Design and Development
  • 5 years Python
  • 10 years - Software Architecture
  • 10 years - Software Design/Development
  • 10 years - XML and SQL
  • 10 years - Maven or Gradle, Git / Gitlab, Make / Autotools
  • 10 years - Hardware and Software Integration

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in field testing, including rapid deploy-test-fix-redeploy cycles in secure operational environments
  • Experience developing secure software and server systems for DoD or similar environments
  • Experience developing scalable architectures in a cloud environment
  • Experience with commercial cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge of full software lifecycle automation and testing tools
  • Expertise in high performance multi-threaded applications
  • Experience with at least one NOSQL database technology
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, HBASE
  • Familiarity with standard SQL databases and JDBC
  • Familiarity with AI/machine learning libraries, software stacks and applications
  • Expertise in modern software design patterns and frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.)
  • Securing distributed services using PKI methodologies

*Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 10 years minimum experience in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent field.

    • Working from home: This position is REMOTE. The candidate is able to work remotely from any location. They may be asked to take up to 4 trips per calendar year to Lexington, MA if the program/project requires it. Candidates must be able to support EST hours.

    Work Location: Hybrid - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the Lexington, MA. *Schedule will depend on project needs.

    Travel: Occasional travel for Sponsor meetings or field testing will be required (domestic only).



    Clearance: Interim sufficient to start - Authorized to Work in the US - Must be able to obtain a Active Clearance
