Job Title: Platform Engineer (Cloud & Containerization)

About the role: PMAT is actively seeking a skilled and dynamic Platform Engineer to join our team supporting The Department of the Navy (Overmatch AI team). As a Platform Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable platforms that support critical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) naval systems and applications. Daily tasks can vary from hands on keyboard to technical discussions, including but not limited to, deploying, managing, and designing Cloud & Kubernetes environments, and writing automation scripts. This is a remote job. However, if San Diego is not your primary residence, you will be required to travel to San Diego for at least 3 weeks a year for team meetings and administrative tasks. An additional 2 weeks of foreign travel a year to work directly with deployed forces may be requested but not required.

Education and Certification Requirements: Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline. Typical Experience: 3 years of professional experience in systems engineering. Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technica l (IAT) certification.
Citizenship and Clearance requirement: Must be a US Citizen. Active TS SCI clearance required.
Location: Remote, San Diego, CA.
Travel: This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Work Environment: PMAT offices as needed. Remote work is also acceptable depending on location and access to a PMAT office. In some cases, work in a government facility may be required. Travel may be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand platform requirements and design scalable solutions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain platform services to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- Work closely with software developers to optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues related to the platform.
- Design and implement automated deployment processes, ensuring a smooth and efficient release cycle.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of platform services.
- Implement and enforce best practices for platform architecture, security, and performance.
- Monitor platform health, troubleshoot incidents, and implement proactive measures to prevent issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to propose and implement improvements to the platform.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Cloud Administrator, Cloud Architect, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of either cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) or containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Some proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
- Some experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for configuration management.
- Some proficiency with Linux system administration.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technical (IAT)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices for platform security.
- Knowledge of advanced networking topics, e.g, VPCs, TCP/IP, TLS, etc.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools for platform health and performance, e.g,. CloudWatch, Grafana, or Elasticsearch.
- Hands-on experience deploying and supporting Edge hardware.
- Previous experience working with government agencies or military organizations.
