Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Unit Safety Representative position on a new and exciting contract. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.
This position is contingent on the award of a new contract that Galapagos is currently pursuing. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following.
Skills / Experience Required
Unit Safety Plan Execution:
* As the Unit Safety Representative, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day execution of the Unit Safety Plan for the new contract. This includes ensuring compliance with all safety standards and regulations while supporting the overall safety culture for the project.
Fuel Tank Custodian:
* You'll oversee the safe storage, handling, and maintenance of fuel tanks in accordance with relevant safety regulations. This might include conducting regular inspections, ensuring proper labeling, managing safety protocols around fuel usage, and coordinating fuel storage and disposal practices.
* Chemical Hygiene Officer:
* In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safe use of chemicals within the facility and managing the Chemical Hygiene Plan. This may involve monitoring chemical storage, conducting safety training for staff, performing hazard assessments, and ensuring that materials are properly disposed of or recycled as necessary.
Hazardous Communication Program Manager:
* You will manage the Hazardous Communication Program, ensuring all employees are properly informed and trained regarding the potential hazards of chemicals and materials they may encounter in their work environment. This could involve maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), creating labeling systems, and facilitating hazard communication training.
Skills/Experience
* 5+ years working as a Safety Representative in accordance with AFI 91-202
* Experience and detailed knowledge of performing duties associated with Fuel Tank Custodian
* Experience with performing the duties of Chemical Hygiene Officer in accordance with AFI 90-821
* Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to effectively work as a member of larger dynamic teams
* Must be willing and able to work inside USG facilities
Education/Certifications
* High School Diploma Required
* Bachelor's degree Desired

The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
