Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is seeking a dynamic and skilled Software and Performance IPT lead to play a critical role in the research, design, development, testing, certification, deployment, and improvement of cutting-edge products and services. This role will involve leading a team to design and test advanced autonomous aircraft and missile systems, managing the product life-cycle from subsystem design through to fully integrated systems. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft. This role is essential in ensuring that Sierra Nevada Corporation continues to deliver high-quality, innovative products that meet the needs of our customers and contribute to national defense.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations - with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

As the Software and Performance IPT lead, you will lead a team of multi-disciplinary engineers consisting of Flight Software, Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Signal Processing, and Modeling and Simulation engineers to develop, test, and field Operational Flight Software for UAS and missile applications. You will be responsible for developing the overall Software and Performance capability release roadmap and ensure the technical execution to program milestones.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead an Integrated Product Team (IPT) comprising of Flight Software, GNC, Signal Processing, and Modeling & Simulation engineers to develop, model, test, and verify vehicle flight software
  • Responsible for the development, maintenance and accreditation high fidelity simulations and models used for missile design, performance assessment, and flight test support
  • Manage the development and integration of Operational Flight Software to meet program milestones and test events
  • Manage the development of GNC Algorithms to control, stabilize and fly mission plans as part of the overall Operational Flight Software
  • Contribute to software engineering proposals where you will perform task definition and estimating work to accomplish those tasks


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • 4 years of experience managing a team
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communications with internal and/or external customers and team members leadership and customer representatives
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience programming in C, C++, or other high order language and experience using MATLAB or Python for evaluation of test and simulated data
  • An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required


Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience developing real-time Operational Flight Software
  • Experience developing signal processing / GNC algorithms or models for missile applications
  • Experience designing and performing analysis of high-fidelity performance simulations
  • Experience with control hardware design and test, hardware/software integration, modeling physics and physical systems as related to flight dynamics
  • Experience in a software management or software lead role where you led/managed engineers and received/provided feedback


Estimated Starting Salary Range: $165,010.21 - $226,889.04. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

This position requires current/active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
