JOB TITLE: Sr. Researcher - Biomanufactured Materials

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide SME (Subject Matter Expert) support to a program that will research and develop novel methods and tools for reverse engineering BMMs through direct interrogation and characterization of the molecular signatures of biomanufactured materials (BMMs) while mapping and model the biomanufacturing pipeline. Specifically, research and development along specific focus areas:
• Novel mapping and modeling approaches for discovery of molecular, chemical, physical, and structural signatures present in BMMs that enable capabilities to reverse engineer their production and infer knowledge about how they were manufactured.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Master's in chemical engineering, bioengineering, synthetic biology, or related fields with four plus (4+) years of work experience in one of these fields or a Doctorate degree with two plus (2+) years of work experience in one of these fields.
• Four (4) years' experience working with analytical instruments to include at least two of the following: mass spectrometry, next and 3rd generation sequencing (long or short read), nuclear magnetic resonance, cryo-electron microscopy, x-ray crystallography, and Raman spectroscopy.
• Two (2) years' experience analyzing and characterizing molecular features from chemical or biological samples.
• One (1) year experience supporting the management of a multi-disciplinary research and development (R&D) or Test and Evaluation (T&E) team.
• One (1) year experience creating program plans, work breakdown structures, and milestone schedules.
• Two (2) years' experience writing technical protocols, manuscripts, reports, and/or presentations for a range of consumers and audiences.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• One (1) year experience in the IC or associated with the Department of Defense, including experience with requirements, CONOPS, and transition.
• Two (2) years' knowledge and experience in the biomanufacturing community to include academic, industry, and/or government.
• One (1) year experience working with or at national and/or uniformed service laboratories.
• One (1) year experience working with or supporting a Government research program.
• One (1) year experience with modern machine learning/artificial intelligence models used in biology such as Alphafold, Evo, and/or RoseTTAFold.
