We are looking for a Production Technician - Aircraft R&D to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for aircraft assembly and integration of mechanical and electrical components. If you are someone who is a highly motivated team player who is willing to support a fast paced team environment and detail oriented self starter with minimal oversight then this role is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
US Hourly Range
$35 - $50 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. We are looking for a Production Technician - Aircraft R&D to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for aircraft assembly and integration of mechanical and electrical components. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Work in an R&D environment with blueprints, schematics, and instructions that are constantly changing.
- Use various hand tools and power tools to put components together.
- Combine different subsystems or components into a larger, functioning system.
- Ensure compatibility and proper communication between integrated components.
- Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, test results, and any issues encountered.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures in the workplace.
- 6+ years of experience with assembly, installation, and testing of aircraft systems components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies, including hydraulic, fuel, aircraft tube fabrication, flight controls, propulsion, electrical and landing gear.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in manufacturing or equivalent.
- Prior hands on experience with kit, model, or experimental aircraft builds.
- Experience with common airframe construction techniques such as rivets, mechanical fasteners, nut plates, etc.
- Proficient in drilling, riveting, installation of relate hardware, usage of precision instruments and utilization of hand tools to perform these tasks.
- Proficient with the use of fabrication equipment (grinders, jig saws, skill saws, drills, band saws, disc grinders, table saws, drill presses, planers, tube benders and cable swaggers).
- Proficient with computer use (standard browser, word processing applications).
- Working knowledge of common electrical components.
- Able to read a wiring diagrams and follow assembly instructions.
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a fast-paced environment and maintain high standards of work.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production.
- Motivated to support the company's mission.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or similar training.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, Math, Hard Science, Business, etc.).
- Experience working on experimental or home built aircraft.
- Flight line or flight test experience.
- Machine shop experience.
- Familiar with fabrication of composite parts and assembly.
- Familiar with paste/secondary bonded structure.
- Experience running functional checkouts and tests, and diagnosing issues discovered during these processes.
- Experience in a fast-paced production environment with flight hardware.
- A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, manuals, and reports.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment.
- Previous or current DOD Security Clearance.
