Core Services Administrator

Job Description Summary: Maintains an organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software.

Job Description: Provide technical support in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.

Administer, operate, and maintain Network Management Systems (NMS) (Solar Winds) servers and products and provide Tier 2 support, to include software upgrades, patching, and vulnerability management, to Tier 1 organizations.

Develop and maintain NMS standards, maps, and configurations and coordinate implementation of those standards among the Tier 1 organization.

Administer, operate, and maintain SharePoint/CRM services and provide Tier 2 support to Tier 1 Unit Site Collection Administrators who communicate with users.

Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.

Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.

Ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.

Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.

Supervises and manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of local and remote business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.

Troubleshoots moderately complex system hardware and software issues.

Optimizes system operation and resource utilization.

Performs system capacity analysis and planning.

Establish a system baseline and evaluate all system changes, upgrades, or replacements for impacts.

Build and maintain a proper staging environment that mirrors (as close as possible) the production environment.

Test all updates or changes on the staging environment and obtain Government approval prior to implementing on the production environment.

May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies.

Provides assistance to users in accessing and using business systems.

May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.

May serve as a team or task lead.

Minimum/General Experience: This position requires a minimum of five years experience, of which at least three years must be specialized experience in administrating computer systems. General experience includes operations experience on a large-scale computer system or a multi-server local area network

Certifications: DoDD 8570.01 IAT-II (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE), Windows Server (e.g., MCSA or higher) AND/OR Microsoft CRM administration certification AND/OR Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associated AND/OR Virtualization certification (VMWare, VSphere).

Clearance: Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS.

TESA eligibility/certification required.

Minimum Education: A Bachelor's degree in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software engineering/programming, management, natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics or business/finance.

Education and experience requirements may be substituted with:

  • A Master's Degree (in subjects described above) and three years general experience of which at least two years must be specialized experience, or
  • No degree and 11 years general experience of which six years is specialized

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $73,950 - $100,050. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
