JOB SUMMARY
The Software Engineer IV supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II). The Software Engineer IV will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining secure and resilient Kubernetes environments for our application teams. They will play a critical role in ensuring that our platform is easy to use, reliable, and resistant to disruptions. By incorporating good DevSecOps practices, they will help improve the overall security and stability of our Kubernetes clusters. They will ensure that the platform enables application developers to deliver value while exceeding customer needs for stability and security.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Creation and sustainment of Kubernetes clusters
Installation, Configuration, testing, and sustainment of DevSecOps tolls
Integration and automation of the DevSecOps tools to enable CI/CD
Implementing automation in cluster and tool creation
Implementing process and procedures for utilizing the DevSecOps Pipeline
Maintenance of the DevSecOps pipeline to ensure availability to the software developers
Rapid resolution of DevSecOps pipeline issues
Position may require at times, night and/or weekend work to maintain a secure and resilient system
Providing recommendations and be an expert who can establish an initial DevSecOps environment in a SIL on a RedHat Linux environment, with familiarity with OpenShift
Being a key part of a team that is transitioning from legacy software to cloud-based architecture, software, and agile engineering approaches
Develop code in accordance with coding and security standards, potentially including compliance with DoD’s Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
Working within agile processes for short cycle, fast-paced delivery both independently and on a team
Healthy and productive communication and interaction with other Zivaro team members, management, and our customers
Support other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
6 or more directly related IT experience
7 years general work experience
3 or more years of experience working with containerized and/or cloud platforms and implementing DevSecOps practices
2 or more years of experience deploying and maintaining VMWare Tanzu clusters
Experience with containerization and microservices
Experience of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code (IAC) principles
Experience working with Kubernetes
Ability to recommend, configure, and maintain DevSecOps pipeline tools and environments, including OpenShift
Experience with transitioning from traditional on-premise development environment to a cloud environment
Cloud architecture experience, with the ability to evolve legacy software into a microservices architecture and expertise with specifying the inputs, outputs and service roles within the architecture
Software engineering experience in an OpenShift RedHat environment
In-depth knowledge of containers and Kubernetes
Expert in agile software engineering approaches; Experience applying behavior-driven and test-driven development
Willingness and ability to teach DevSecOps software engineering approaches to others on the team
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Detail-Oriented
Active Secret Security clearance required – Top Secret is preferred
Desired:
Knowledge of Kobayashi Maru, Platform One, Cloud One, Space Camp, or other Air Force DevSecOps environments is preferred
Java and/or JavaScript experience is a plus
Experience implementing DevSecOps in a container ecosystem
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms, like Terraform and Ansible
Experience in Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration Environments
Experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines in a VMware Tanzu environment
Experience Implemented CI/CD deployment pipelines for Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Kubernetes, re-factored software projects for integration in larger ecosystem of applications
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and over 5 years DevSecOps work experience
IAT Level II certification (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP) is required
