We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Engineer to join our team. As a VMware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's virtualization infrastructure. Your role will involve overseeing VMware administration, virtual machine management, troubleshooting, and ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our virtualized environment.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Design and implement VMware vSphere virtualization solutions, including server consolidation, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Configure and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and other VMware components.
• Monitor virtual infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal resource utilization.
• Provision, deploy, and manage virtual machines (VMs), templates, and snapshots.
• Implement and maintain security measures for virtualized environments, including access controls, network segmentation, and VM isolation.
• Create and maintain documentation related to virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Project Specific Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree: additional experience would be considered in lieu of degree
• At least 7 years of experience in the related field
• An active Secret Clearance is required
• Desired: Certified in VMware Certified Associate (VCA) OR VMware Certified Professional (VCP) OR Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
• Proven experience as a VMware Engineer or similar role, with expertise in designing and managing VMware vSphere environments.
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere features and capabilities, including vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, vMotion, HA, DRS, and vSAN.
• Familiarity with VMware NSX for network virtualization and security is desirable.
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery methodologies for virtualized environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be based around the Annapolis Junction, Maryland area and be available for on-site work, if the need arises
• Team player, fast learner with ability to work proactively and independently to support mission critical operations supporting geographically diverse locations.
