Overview

The DNI Security Specialist is responsible for supporting the management and compliance of personnel clearances for each company under DNI. This position shall be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the department. Some items could include distributing tasks amongst the team, handling lower-level issues within the department, and assigning/maintaining workloads. This person provides direct support to the FSO to maintain working relationships internally with Operations, the COO, Business Development, Human Resources, and Recruiting.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Daily duties include but are not limited to:
  • Submitting Visit Authorization Request (VAR) paperwork and supporting documentation so that the government can verify the contractor clearance prior to their start
  • New employee onboarding including taking ownership of employee's clearance in DISS/NBIS, adding employee to the site's Visit Access Request (VAR) in DISS/NBIS, and initiating new security investigations if needed
  • Completing and submitting Common Access Card paperwork (TASS/MP-ICAM) requests so that employees can obtain base access
  • Submitting appropriate notifications when an employee terminates (a termination VAR triggers the government to revoke all badges and access)
  • Monitoring compliance with DISS/NBIS by making sure no employee security clearances expire, initiating routine investigations and re-investigations, and keeping track of the new Continuous Evaluation (CE) standards set forth for industry
  • Speaking with DISS/NBIS supporting departments to solve issues that arise with clearance investigations/adjudications
  • Supporting self-reporting outlined by the Security Executive Agency Directive (SEAD) 3 reporting requirements
  • Report security issues to the FSO and the Insider Threat Program Senior Official as applicable. Prepare report and assist with investigations if needed
  • Maintaining SCI requests through ACCS and other means - as needed

Qualifications

Equipment/Systems:

This position requires familiarity with MS Office tools, SharePoint, Adobe, and familiarization with DISS, NBIS, SWFT, ACCS, NISS, SPOT, and Field Print.

Competencies: The Security Specialist role requires someone who has exceptional attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills. Additionally, this person must have the ability to multitask, problem solve, create documentation of processes, analyze complex situations, and develop a solution, work both independently and in a team environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with people of varying experiences and backgrounds is critical.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role that primarily requires sitting at a desk in front of a computer for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; overtime is expected at times

Travel - Minimal travel may occur for a contract kick off at the location of contract performance (local or out of state); travel is usually only for 2-3 days

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of relevant experience


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Thorough working knowledge of the NISPOM and other relevant DoD security guidance as well as the Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) standards
  • FSO Program Management for Non-Possessing Facilities


Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • Requires an active Secret clearance from the U.S. Government or the ability to obtain one.
