Administers, develops, runs tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software. Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters. Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems. Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and performs data recoveries. Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and disk space forecasts. Provides technical support for system users. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Typically requires BA and 2-4 years.

Responsibilities

  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems and triage issues accordingly.
  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software.
  • Maintain record of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial action taken, and installation activities.
  • Develop, maintain and manage Inspection, Testing, and Preventive Maintenance (ITPM) programs for all designated equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, vendor technical direction and industry best practices.
  • Run and provide all necessary reports as specified by management.
  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Collaborate with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
  • Provide project management oversight for any new systems implementation projects.
  • Primary interface to software and hardware vendors for locally installed systems to directly coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, replacement.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in the detention/corrections industry and make recommendations to project management for computing hardware or software that will improve overall operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Associate and or Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or other related field (Master's is preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years in an IT related field.
  • Knowledge & Experience with LAN and WiFi management, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of desktop/laptop and server computer hardware.
  • Experience with desktop Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Experience with application system administration and support.
  • Very good written and oral English communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. or naturalized citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain government security clearance.
  • Have current Driver License, reliable transportation and able to respond 24 x 7 within short time frame.
  • 21 years or older.
