Craftsman / Certified Locksmith GSA

Purpose and Scope:

Operate, inspect, maintain and repair structural components in all prescribed facilities and RPIE systems, both interior and exterior and other equipment installed in or on the facilities. Maintain and repair master, active, and blank keys; lock combinations; vaults; safes; and sensitive cabinet. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour emergency ingress service for all lock systems.
• Develop and maintain a security control program for control of master, active, and blank keys; lock combinations; vaults; safes; and sensitive cabinet information to ensure personnel do not have unauthorized access to facilities or these items.
• Change lock combinations when personnel having access to the combinations no longer have a need to know such combinations.
• Repair lock systems without degradation of security and treat any security breach of a lock system as an emergency.
• Make keys and change classified container and vault combinations as approved by the Det 2 CC.
• Certify, inspect, and repair GSA-approved security containers and vaults.
• Provide locksmith services to retrofit security locks of GSA- approved security equipment for all levels of classified information with Government-furnished security locks IAW Fed Spec FF-L-2740B.
• Shall perform preventive and corrective maintenance of all electronic and mechanical locks, panic levers, door hardware, vaults, safes, file cabinets, and other security containers.
• Operate, inspect, maintain and repair structural components in all prescribed facilities and RPIE systems, both interior and exterior and other equipment installed in or on the facilities.
• Inspect and maintain all facility fixed ladders.
• Maintain facility finishes which includes a variety of interior and exterior finishes such as concrete, masonry, wood, metal, sheet rock, paints, foundations, wall coverings, floor coverings, and stucco or plaster.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
• Craftsmen shall have an equivalent of an Air Force minimum 5 level or equal and 5 years' experience in their respective trades.
• Must be GSA-certified.
• Must be Pro-Lock 1 & 2-certified.
• Ability to read and write English is required.
• Must be USN to fill this position.
• Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
• Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
• Possess a valid state issued driver's license and passport.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

• Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies.
• Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 100 pounds.
• Work includes facilities, towers, antennas, security control and locks, cranes and hoists, corrosion control, heavy metals in paint, and asbestos removal and disposal services.
• Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
