Orbis is seeking an innovative Data Scientist with a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph to support a high-profile customer. The Data Scientist will be responsible for identifying data sources and needs, performing aggregation and analysis of that data, and integrating the sponsor office into the broader data science community. They will support a variety of efforts not restricted to a singular geographic region or language. On this project, youll have the opportunity to demonstrate your intellectual agility by aiding development of key performance insights and identifying dataflows and techniques to measure their success and will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that data science processes are aligned with mission objectives. This project features the opportunity to interact with a wide range of key stakeholders, including those at senior levels. This is an exciting opportunity for an intellectually curious, energetic data scientist looking for more "hands-on" experience to work on a project with real impact helping our client develop ways to understand and improve performance of activities that support delivery of the mission.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience developing solutions with Python and underlying libraries
  • Linux basics, prompt engineering for large language models, data manipulation, exploratory data analysis, familiarity with advanced statistical concepts, provide analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to the customer.
  • Demonstrated experience working with regular expressions
  • Demonstrated experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) /text processing in one or more of the following: text preprocessing and cleaning for downstream NLP tasks, information extraction, Named Entity Recognition (NER), identity matching, text normalization, automatic summarization, NLP evaluation, machine translation, machine transliteration, document exploitation pipelines, multilingual computing, ontology management, or computational lexicography
  • Demonstrated experience with Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) using Jupyter or similar notebooks.
  • Demonstrated experience developing code with Visual Studio Code or similar Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
  • Familiarity with Measures of Performance and Measures of Effectiveness (MOP/E)
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelors degree is required for this position.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a consulting role in the IC.
  • Masters degree in business, social science, or behavioral science preferred but not required for this position.
Desired Skills/Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience using PySpark and/or DataBricks
  • Demonstrated experience with Python package deployment
  • Demonstrated experience developing solutions with SQL
  • Demonstrated experience with SpaCy
  • Demonstrated experience with Skweak/Snorkel.
  • Demonstrated experience with task management software such as JIRA
  • Demonstrated experience building discriminative classifiers for text data
  • Familiarity with one or more foreign languages

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
  • Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region.
