Mechanical Engineer

BlueHalo has an opportunity for a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join a small multi-disciplined team supporting research and development activities for the Air Force Research Laboratory. Candidate will realize innovative solutions for unique mechanical engineering challenges for lab, field, and flight test systems in support of the USAF and USSF.

Primary responsibilities for this role will include:

• Provide hands-on engineering support from the planning phase through implementation
• Interact with team members to understand the challenges, constraints, and desired outcome of technical efforts
• Use a combination of custom and COTS components to create lab and field test infrastructure
• 3D Soldiworks modeling, 2D prints and robust documentation for fabrication of components
• Implementation through interaction with on-site machinists, 3D printing, and off-site facilities
• Perform system and component analysis to verify design integrity
• Participate in Air Force test and training activities (some travel may be required)

Requirements:

• B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field (other engineering disciplines may be considered based on relevant education, skills, and experience)
• Strong Solidworks skills and ability to create robust machinable designs with industry standard documentation and prints
• Knowledge of machining and fabrication processes and techniques for various materials
• Understanding of strength of materials and fastening techniques
• Job location is on-site at WPAFB, Dayton, OH
• Strong attention to detail
• Due to security requirements, U.S. citizenship is required, and the candidate must be able to secure a SECRET clearance

Preferences:

• Basic understanding of electrical/electronic systems and troubleshooting
• Experience with hand and machine tools
• Experience with electro-optical devices
