The Opportunity
As a Geospatial Data Scientist supporting the SAFFIRE program, you will play a critical role in enhancing geospatial analysis systems by leveraging GOTS/COTS/FOSS capabilities. In this role, you will integrate capabilities from various systems to meet mission needs and work directly with analysts to translate requirements into actionable solutions. You will be part of a team committed to providing innovative solutions that deliver actionable intelligence for mission-critical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Development:
Design and implement solutions to connect systems to mission objectives, utilizing coding and modeling techniques for optimal results.
Develop innovative analytical solutions to address complex mission challenges.
System Integration:
Integrate capabilities from multiple systems to fulfill mission requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective operational deployment.
Customer Collaboration:
Engage directly with customers to gather feedback and refine solutions.
Work closely with analysts to align software enhancements with analytical needs.
Data Processing and Visualization:
Leverage Python libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy) for data analysis and modeling tasks.
Utilize advanced data processing and visualization techniques to develop actionable insights.
Rapid Prototyping:
Employ Agile-based software development practices to create iterative solutions aligned with evolving mission objectives.
Required Qualifications
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience:
5+ years as a Data Scientist or Analytic Methodologist in data analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
OR 5+ years of experience in GEOINT (or similar) analysis.
3+ years working with GIS data, systems, and services.
Proven experience collaborating with analysts to meet mission-critical objectives in government settings.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Python coding and modeling, with strong familiarity with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy.
Advanced knowledge of computer capabilities, data processing, and visualization techniques.
Experience with Agile methodologies and rapid prototyping for software development.
Clearance Requirements:
Active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain or maintain a polygraph.
Desired Qualifications
Intelligence and Geospatial Expertise:
Experience as an NGA Analyst supporting mission requirements.
Familiarity with imagery and data collection processes.
Technical Skills:
Understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in geospatial data analysis.
Proficiency in analytic modeling and Python technologies for enterprise system development.
Experience with web application development concepts and integrating multiple applications.
Knowledge of workflow chart and diagram creation for process design.
Expertise in scalable solution development for complex mission problems.
Familiarity with continuous integration and software configuration management tools (e.g., Subversion, GIT, JIRA, Confluence).
Certifications and Documentation:
Security+ Certification.
Experience writing user manuals or end-user instructions.
