Position Overview
Infinity is looking for a highly motivated Satellite Operations Lead to lead our team to provide 24/7/365 satellite operations support to the Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 1 Tracking Layer (T1TRK) Program. This Satellite Operations Lead position is located at SDA Satellite Operations Center (SOC) facility in Grand Forks, ND. Responsibilities will include leading satellite operations support of the T1TRK Program which includes 16 Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Missile Warning/Missile Defense campaign small satellites. Operations support tasks will include use of Navy Research Lab (NRL) tools for spacecraft planning, navigation, telemetry, tracking, and control.
Primary Responsibilities
The Satellite Operations Lead is responsible for planning, scheduling, and execution to support real-time satellite operations and shall:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for operations stakeholders
- Mentor, guide, and lead project operations team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment by setting expectations, monitoring progress, and providing coaching and development opportunities
- Generate specific Schedule Request and Opportunity Request messages
- Ensure contact configurations/associated databases/files contain the required SV attributes to successfully execute contacts
- Support Government-led anomalous contact investigations
- Support the Tasking Panel and Daily Schedule meetings
- Assist with development of training material and training of satellite operators
- Assist in developing checklists and procedures for satellite and ground system operations
- Operations support includes attending Daily Operations Stand-up meetings, inputs to monthly in-progress reviews
- Obtain and sustain qualification as Space Vehicle Operator (SVO) to backfill SVO position as required
- Able to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Desire to train and certify as a Satellite Vehicle Operator (SVO) to successfully execute satellite operations support tasks
- Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience or 6 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience in planning, organizing, and successfully executing tasks
- Experience managing/leading operations personnel
- Excellent leadership and team-building abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance
- Satellite Vehicle Operator experience, to include telemetry, tracking and command, spacecraft procedures
- Experience with Department of Defense space programs
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis to identify failure causes and develop resolutions
- Objective thinker, problem solver with ability to execute challenging tasks to completion
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment
Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience
Clearance Requirement
Secret security clearance
Schedule
The Satellite Operations Lead position supports the SDA Operations Center on a nominal 8-hour day-shift schedule. Could include shift work outside of normal work hours if the need to backfill SVO position occurs.
This is a full-time position, typically working 40+ hours per week. Some travel may be required to client locations or conferences.
