About the Role:
Aquila is seeking a Software Developert o join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The Software Developer to support a prototype knowledge management system
There are a few requirements for the position:
Responsibilities:
Develops application software. Writing and implementing efficient code. Researches, designs, develops and implements software applications and systems. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Evaluates, designs and implements interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, cloud offering, system architecture, security and characteristics of overall system. Researching, designing, implementing and managing software programs. Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications. Determining operational practicality. Documents testing, client experience and maintenance of system corrections. May partner and collaborate with cyber security teams to ensure compliance with security standards. May develop and conduct unit tests.

There are a few requirements for the position:
- Must be a U.S Citizen- Authorized to Work in the US - Must be able to obtain a Active Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
- Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.

What You'll Bring:
- Familiarity with common database management systems (SQL and noSQL)
- Experience with data modeling, database design, and database administration
- Familiarity with containerization using Docker and/or podman
- Substantial proficiency with Python and Git
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work well on a team and individually
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation (e.g., Gitlab runners)
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes or OpenShift)
- Developing, debugging, and executing software in both Linux and Windows environments
- Experience with GUI development (web service and standalone)
- Experience developing computational software in MATLAB, C/C++, or Java
Must Have:
- 3 years Databasing (SQL or NoSQL)
- 3 years Data Modeling
- Bachelor's Degree: B.S. in Computer Science or engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience
- 3 years Python
- 3 years Software Design/Development
- 3 years Git
- 3 years Containerization (Docker, podman, etc.)
Nice to Have:
- C/C++ Programming
