Engineer, Cybersecurity III

Athena Technology Group (ATG) is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our NIWIC team at Charleston, SC. The Cybersecurity Engineer's primary function is to support the NIWC's Cybersecurity program.
Essential functions

• Implement, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policy, to include Assessment and Authorization requirements. They may also perform the following duties:
  • Plan, implement, upgrade, and/or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve cyber defense and maintain a cyber resilient network
  • Assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risks and propose and implement remediation actions or risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure
  • Respond to computer security breaches to re-establish protections and make required reports
• Implements, manages, and maintains current/future Cybersecurity standards, best practices.
• Support Joint & Co-Use Cybersecurity activities and information requests.
• Supports the sponsorship of new services and facilities as needed.
• Provide engagement with external and internal resources to review, support, and monitor Incident.
• Provide prioritization of efforts through threat informed intelligence and reporting.
• Direct engagement with CYBERCOM, DISA J34, Department of Defense Information Networks-Joint Forces Head Quarters (DODIN-JFHQ), Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP), and C2.
• Enforce the design and implementation of trusted relations among external systems and architectures.
• Helps facilitate and prioritize interactions between CSPs and Government entities to prioritize the review of authorization packages.
• Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
• Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Education:

• Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent; and depending on PWS tasking
• Certified as Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) or Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level I (position-based) per DoD 8570.1M and subsequent DoD 8140 manual, as applicable.

Experience:

• Ten (10) years of notable experience preparing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policy, to include Assessment and Authorization requirements.
• Experience may include plan, implement, upgrade, and/or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve cyber defense and maintain a cyber-resilient network; assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risks and propose and implement remediation actions or risk mitigation strategies; ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure; and respond to computer security breaches to re-establish protections and make required reports.
