Network Systems Administrator
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Network Systems Administrator to execute the design, implementation, and management of complex computer systems for a government organization. This role encompasses the management of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, and various data communication architectures. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of network security models and will participate in hardware and software procurement decisions to enhance the organization's IT infrastructure. Additionally, this position will provide tiered technical assistance to users, addressing intricate technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
o Deploy, and maintain LANs and WANs while ensuring optimal performance and security across all data communication systems.
o Act as the primary point of contact for resolving technical issues, providing in-depth troubleshooting of computer systems, including hardware and software diagnostics.
o Conduct security assessments of servers, network devices, and security appliances, ensuring adherence to operational efficiency and to established compliance frameworks.
o Create and maintain detailed operational and Maintenance (O&M) checklists (daily, weekly, monthly) and develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for system operations.
o Manage and configure enterprise security monitoring tools, leveraging Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems. Design and implement complex event correlation rules and generate summary reports to monitor security incidents and residual risk.
o Execute established cybersecurity operational protocols for day-to-day network management, ensuring the continuous protection of sensitive information.
o Work alongside security incident response teams and assist in the integration of innovative techniques to enhance the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of systems operating at varied classification levels.
Qualifications
o Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in IT network systems management and cybersecurity operations.
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (4 years).
o Must possess Information Assurance Technician Level II
Technical Proficiencies
o Advanced expertise in Microsoft Windows Server (2012, 2016) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (6.5 and above).
o Proficient in CISCO routing and switching, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and VPN technologies.
o Hands-on experience with SIEM solutions (e.g., LogRhythm), vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, ACAS), and automated patch management solutions (e.g., WSUS, YUM).
o Strong familiarity with Active Directory management, Group Policy design and implementation, and server hardening methodologies.
o In-depth knowledge of hypervisors, including VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as storage and network virtualization techniques.
o Understanding of RMF policies and compliance requirements, alongside the applicable security protocols and best practices
o Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server administration and troubleshooting.
o Solid understanding of data backup and disaster recovery solutions and their implementation within enterprise environments.
o Familiarity with communication security (COMSEC) policies, as well as relevant DoD policies governing system and network administration.
