Machinist

Overview

i3 is seeking a Machinist to support the Material Science and Engineering Division of Propulsion and Structures Technology. This position is located in Huntsville, AL at Redstone, Arsenal.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with customer and read engineering drawings to produce unique precision parts to contribute to a variety of projects in an ever changing, rapid paced R&D environment with little or no assistance.
• Set up, install and operate machine tool equipment for fabrication operations (including but not limited to band saw, lathes, drill presses, milling machines and or surface grinders).
• Set up and operate multi-purpose computerized numerically-controlled (CNC) machines to perform any combination of machining operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• High School diploma along with a degree in machine tool technology and/or credentials/experience verifying formal training in machining technology.
• Minimum of 3-10 years of precision machining experience programming, setup and operation of CNC Lathes.
• Prior experience reading engineering drawings and CAD models to produce unique precision parts.
• Prior experience in programing, setup, and operation of a variety of machines including 3-axis CNC mills, CNC mill-turns, manual mills and manual lathes.
• DMG Mori conversational programming experience preferred.
• Experience with large complex components preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Occasional travel (10%) to support integration and testing events may be required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
