Position

Multispectral Materials Researcher

  • Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland
  • Security Clearance: Active Clearance or Eligible to Obtain - U.S. citizenship required
  • Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 Depending on Experience and Education
  • Travel: 5%

Position Summary

SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Multispectral Materials Researcher to support our Aberdeen Research Operation. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fabricate materials with tailored EM properties
  • Use spectroscopy to measure UV, visible and infrared (IR) properties
  • Use cameras/imagers to collect visual and IR imagery, from microscopes to field tests.
  • Use /develop scripts to efficiently collect and/or analyze test data.

Minimum Qualifications of Multispectral Materials Researcher
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences Concentration and 1-2 years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered. Candidates are not required to possess all qualifications; if you possess some of the desired qualifications, please apply.

  • Experience working in a research environment (educational experience allowable)
  • Experience using spectroscopy to measure UV, visible and infrared properties; familiarity with color measurements/analysis using CIELAB/L*a*b parameters is desired
  • Familiarity with Python to develop scripts and GUIs to eliminate repetitive processes in Excel, ImageJ and similar programs
  • Familiarity with image analysis tools such as ImageJ/FIJI to quantify features in microscopy images as well as field test imagery
  • Experience using cameras/optical systems to collect visual and infrared imagery; ability to develop scripts to accelerate image collection and analyses
