The Accountant I is responsible for assisting with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting and industry standards and regulations. Job Summary:
The Accountant I is responsible for assisting with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting and industry standards and regulations. This entry-level position provides support to the finance team and contributes to the overall financial health of the organization.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Support with travel expense processing
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory reports.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and support business operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
BASIC REQUIRMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the aerospace/manufacturing industry
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting software such as Deltek Costpoint and/or QuickBooks
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous internship or work experience in accounting
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset with a desire to learn and grow within the organization.
- Familiarity with Federal Government Contracting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
