Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DoD), is seeking a Systems Engineer to be based in our Arlington, VA, Mt. Laurel, NJ, or San Diego, CA offices.
Overview:
In this role, the Systems Engineer is responsible for incorporating Systems Engineering (MBSE) best practices to support the design, development, and implementation of an Integrated Digital Engineering Environment (IDDE) for IDT's DoD customers, focusing specifically on RF system modeling and design. A successful candidate for this position will have experience in digital system modeling and design, RF system modeling and design, systems requirement management, interface design and management, and system behavior / activity diagramming. Additional areas of focus can include system and structural decomposition, requirements traceability, parametric analysis, behavioral analysis, and operational testing.

Pay Range* : $102,600 - $179,550 or $132,300 - $231,000

Responsibilities Include:
- Apply MBSE principles to the definition of system architecture, behavior, and functional baselines
- Model and design Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) receivers and hardware
- Model and design RF communications antennas and receivers
- Elicit and capture customer and system technical requirements in models, incorporating languages, ontologies, and standard APIs for third party tools
- Develop and extend system behavioral models through requirements, design documentation, and related systems engineering documents
- Integrate models using modern requirements management, architecture, and systems engineering software tools
- Adhere to established modeling guidelines and update them as needed
- Assist in the development of a digital engineering style guide for the IDDE
- Conduct verification and validation (V&V) of models and develop tools/techniques for automated V&V
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or equivalent.
- 5+ years broad technical experience (preferably in defense), including architecture development and analysis
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of systems engineering and design for Radio Frequency (RF) or Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems
- Experience with systems engineering requirements and concept development; design and development of system architecture; systems hardware and software design and development; system integration and test; information assurance and tools to generate systems engineering products
- Familiarity withMBSE principles
- Knowledge of the Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Unified Modeling Language (UML), or comparable modeling language(s)
- Knowledge of DoDAF and/or UAF modeling standards
- Thorough understanding of object-oriented design and polymorphism
- Experience with interpretations of data models from abstract concepts
- Able to prioritize workload across several milestones and projects
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with FPGA simulation and modeling tools like Vivado, QuestaSim, or similar
- Experience with RF transmission protocols like VITA 49.2 or similar
- Experience with serial data transmission protocols like Aurora or similar
- Experience working on unusually complex problems and providing highly innovative solutions
- Ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of systems engineering and integration activities
- Experience working in an agile scrum environment with DoD stakeholders
- Experience with Linux, preferably RedHat/CentOS
- Experience using configuration management / version control tools such as Git, SVN, ClearCase, etc.
- Ability to travel approximately 15%
