Northrop Grumman Financial Shared Services is seeking a Principal Accountant, reporting to the Manager, Accounting Analytics and Optimization. Specifically, we are seeking a team member to assist in the organization's responsibilities related to general ledger (GL) chart of accounts maintenance, accounting close activities, and monitoring.

This position may be located in Irving, Texas (preferred); El Segundo, California; Falls Church, VA; or Bloomington, MN. Candidates must be willing to work within one of these locations for a minimum of two days per week. There is no opportunity for a full-time telecommuting arrangement in this role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • General Accounting Responsibilities
    • Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare accounting/financial reports
    • Compile and analyze financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy
    • Prepare accounting schedules and reports
    • May design, modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems
    • Adhere to and communicate accounting policies and procedures
  • General Ledger (GL) Chart of Accounts
    • Chart of Account maintenance
    • Administration of Service Now
      • Forms/tables/workflows
      • Related dashboard
    • Communicate with specific sector points of contact and other key stakeholders
    • Close Activities
      • Manage accounting periods
      • Manage balance carryforwards at yearend
      • On call support when required
    • Provide Sarbanes Oxley/ audit support when needed
  • Monitoring
    • Create and maintain analytics to assist the department in GL examination
    • Review selected processes and data for accuracy, completeness, compliance with accounting standards, and conformity with internal NG policies and procedures

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with five years of professional experience

Salary Range: $79,100 - $118,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
