Junior System Administrator

To address the growing demands within the Department of Defense, SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Junior System Administrator to join our Digital and AI Team as we embark on a large initiative to lead the design and operate integrated Enterprise IT solutions that deliver AI-enabled capabilities and enable data-driven decision making to missions across the Department, Services, and Combatant Commands.

The Ideal candidate will be adept at managing customer relationships, driving operational excellence, and fostering continuous improvement across all service areas.

Core Responsibilities

• Assists with high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations, and servers.
• Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
• Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
• Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
• Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
• Plans and implements the modernization of servers.
• Aids development and implementation of standard operating procedures and schedules.
• Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
• Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD or JD and zero (0) years or more experience.
• Experience working in a cloud environment, preferably AWS.
• Experience working in an Agile Community, using Agile methodology for product and project management.
• Experience working in a DoD environment supporting one of the Armed Forces in an enterprise IT environment, across multiple domains and various clearance levels.
• SEC+ certification or similar certification to meet DoD 8140 (formerly DoD 8570) requirements.
• US citizenship and Secret security clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS AI Practitioner Certification
• Experience working with the Advana System/Platform.
• ITIL v3 and/or v4 certification.
