Project Overview:

Our client is leading the technical upgrade of their critical Financial and Procurement systems for a major branch of the Department of Defense (DoD), transitioning from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. The project focuses on a fit-to-standard approach, minimizing customizations and aligning with S/4HANA’s standard configuration. Key efforts include defining requirements for the upgrade and supporting business process re-engineering.

Description:

We are looking for an S/4HANA General Ledger Specialist to implement and optimize SAP S/4HANA General Ledger functionality with an emphasis on Segment Profit Centers and Solution Prototyping.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and configure General Ledger functionality in SAP S/4HANA to support federal financial operations, including multi-year appropriations, fund accounting, and USSGL alignment.
• Implement Segment Profit Centers to enable detailed financial reporting and performance tracking across organizational units.
• Lead prototyping efforts to demonstrate S/4HANA capabilities, focusing on a fit-to-standard approach with minimal customizations.
• Build and refine GL solutions aligned with business requirements, ensuring seamless integration with other modules like Controlling (CO), Funds Management (FM), and Project Systems (PS).
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to redesign financial processes, leveraging S/4HANA’s standard configuration and embedded analytics.
• Drive process improvements for period-end closing, reconciliation, and real-time financial reporting.
• Configure and optimize Segment Profit Centers for tracking and reporting financial performance by program, project, and operational division.
• Ensure Segment Profit Center integration with S/4HANA Universal Journal for accurate financial consolidation and compliance reporting.
• Work with cross-functional teams to capture detailed requirements and translate them into SAP configurations and functional designs.
• Engage in hands-on prototyping exercises to validate configurations and test potential solutions, ensuring that the system meets business process requirements.
• Ensure the creation and validation of master data elements specific to Finance, such as chart of accounts, GL account groups, field status variants, and ledger configurations, to enhance operational accuracy and compliance.
• Document current state General Ledger processes, identifying gaps, and evaluating alternatives.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Finance (FI) with deep configuration and Segment Profit Center experience.
• Expertise in SAP S/4HANA General Ledger configuration including Segment Profit Centers.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Universal Journal, embedded analytics, and prototyping tools.
• Proven experience with S/4HANA implementations, preferably within the federal government or A&D sectors.
• 9+ years of relevant SAP experience including 6 years of experience leading business systems modernization/sustainment and related projects.
• Experience deploying functional and technical subject-matter expertise in a particular relevant field in support of State or Federal Government agencies or large, complex companies (greater than 1,000) employees.
• Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate technical field from an accredited institution. An additional (2) years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Professional IT Certification - CISA (or similar) or Certification in one or more relevant SAP Modules.
• Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Public Sector, or government regulated industry experience (i.e.: Aerospace & Defense) experience required. Army or Navy experience is preferred.
• Interim or Active Secret Clearance Required. (Clearance sponsorship for candidates with relevant experience may be available on a case by case basis.)
