Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Technician (CBRND) Technician to join our team in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical, training, and administrative support to: Readiness Assist Visits (RAV); CBRD detection equipment; Radiological Containment (RADCON); sustainment to chemical and biological detection consumables; and sustainment to Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS)/Enhanced Counter-Proliferation Capability (eCPC) onboard U.S. Navy vessels.
  • Assist the Government Subject Matter Expert and/ or the assigned contractor CBR Technician in: conducting Collective Protection System (CPS), CB Detection, Decontamination, Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic System (JBAIDS), eCPC/VBSS, and RADIAC assessments during CBR RAVs onboard deploying ships; providing necessary consumables to ensure ships are deployment ready; conducting crew CBR system training; providing distant support on all CBRD related matters; and following-up with the ships 30 days Post-RAV to document and update equipment status.
  • Assist in troubleshooting Improved Point Detection System Lifecycle Replacement (IPDSLR) units, retrieving data from ships, maintaining records of IPDS-LR lab functions, maintaining inventories and shipping documents of all IPDS-LR detection units repaired and shipped to/from lab.
  • Support the Radiological Mobile Survey and Remediation Team (RSMRT) lead and the assigned contractor CBR Technician to conduct shipboard RADCON assessments during the RAV, conduct Fleet Contamination Technician training, and update the ship's RADCON book.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in shipboard systems maintenance, test and evaluation, field support and training
  • 3+ years of experience of applicable professional experience with operations and repair of Navy CBRD equipment with emphasis on detection, decontamination, and collective protection
  • Navy shipboard experience in damage control or associated rating
  • Working knowledge of shipboard protocol and Naval Waterfront Maintenance Community


Preferred Qualifications:
  • VBSS Boarding Team experience preferred
  • Training certifications or equivalent experience in the following preferred: forklift driver, web-based inventory management (CMRPO), HAZMAT shipping, CBRD shipboard operations, radiation material and transportation (RAM), Assistant Radiation Safety Officer (ARSO)
  • Travel Up to 50%


Clearance Requirements:
  • Active Secret security clearance required


Physical Requirements:
  • Works inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted
  • Incumbent is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock
  • Work may require wearing protective clothing such as a hard hat and steel-toed shoes
  • Traverse job sites
  • Ascend and descend stairs or ladders
  • Stationary position on hard surfaces for extended periods of time
  • Move self into uncomfortable positions to preform job duties
  • May have to move items that weigh up to 70 lbs. Heavier items are moved with material handling equipment, or with assistance from other workers
