QA Software Engineer

KBR's Mission Technology Solutions division is seeking a dedicated QA Software Engineer to join our DevOps team at NAS - North Island (San Diego, CA) to play a vital role in the Agile Scrum process. In this role, you will work directly with developers, analysts, managers, and project stakeholders to ensure the quality of our software through manual testing. The QA Engineer will create test plans, test cases and test procedures, optimize quality control processes, and minimize defects through proactive testing. Success in this position will be measured by your ability to drive quality assurance initiatives, enhance software quality, and improve customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with an active/current DoD Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain.
Education: BS/BA from an accredited US College, University, or Institution (additional work experience accepted in lieu of formal BS/BA Degree).
Experience: 3+ years of experience in software development and quality assurance within an Agile software development environment. Out of the overall years of experience, at least 2 years of experience must include creating and managing test plans and test cases.
Technical Skills/Software Expertise:

Workplace Setting: This is a full-time, on-site position in North Island, CA.
Travel: May be required up to 10%
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week
Compensation: $70,000-$105,820. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide quality assurance input during all Agile Scrum ceremonies. Author and manage the creation of test plans, test cases, and test procedures for software projects. Ensure the correctness and completeness of all quality assurance documentation. Implement and maintain QA processes and plans for the team. Perform daily proactive testing of software, identifying defects early in the process.
- Document all project defects and suggestions using the appropriate QA tools. Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities to meet project deadlines. Thoroughly identify, record, and document all bugs with precise details.
- Conduct regression testing of resolved bugs to ensure no new issues are introduced. Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet customer needs. Gather feedback and comments to continuously optimize systems and processes. Review project documentation and address any identified issues.

- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting languages.
- High proficiency with GitLab.
- High proficiency with Microsoft TFS or Azure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Word).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of Metrology and Calibrations of NAVAIR equipment and systems.
- Experience with MADCAP Flare.
- Understanding of database architecture.
- Experience with HTML is a plus.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply program-specific methodologies.
