Lockheed Martin is seeking an Early Career dedicated Mission Operations Systems Engineer to join the Space Based-Infrared Systems (SBIRS) and Next Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared Geosynchronous (NGG) Team working onsite in Sunnyvale, California.
This role functions as a Configuration Management (CM) System Engineer, primarily supporting developers and customers for the audit, configuration, and release of software products and documentation to the various testing and operation environments. The CM team contributes to the product configuration and release management of Flight Operation Support (FOS) products supporting the satellite constellation's day-to-day activities, maintenance, and health.
As a Configuration Management System Engineer, you will:
• Be responsible for configuration managing all FOS product configurations in both unclassified and classified networks
• Interact with the engineers and set up and maintain the Git repositories, for the products handoff and configuration process
• Audit and package products for in-house checkout and formal validation before release for operation use
• Prepare and present Change Request (CR) packages to Flight Ops Support Approval Board (FAB)
• Release products for use in validations, pre-launch readiness rehearsals, and launch and early orbit test support
• Follow and update CM work instructions
• Document audit report and release notes and update CM Plan and other CM documentation
• Identify requirements and support execution of vehicle flight objectives
• Identify, document, and implement changes for process improvements
• Develop tools and techniques to perform various CM audits and analysis
• Support moderator/administrator role in the Peer Review process
• Willing to be on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, as required
• Work overtime and weekends when necessary to support mission goals
• Travel when required (Less than 10%)
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with one of the following: JIRA, Confluence, Linux OS, or SQL
• Experience coding in Python
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance; US Citizenship required
Desired Skills:
• Active DoD Secret/Top Secret/SCI security clearance
• Experience with Configuration Management (CM)
• Experience with process improvement(s)
• Jira and Gitlab experience
• Products release management experience
• Familiar with Git/Gitlab commands and continuous integration/development (CI/CD) methodology
• Ability to analyze/audit software products and documentation handoff from the developers
• Eager to learn and provide feedback on how to make processes better and more efficient
• Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while buildings solid relationships and trusts with internal team members and customers
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments and ability to create shell scripts
• Commanding On-orbit Satellite(s)
• Experience with satellite Launch and Early Orbit Testing (L&EOT)

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $55,300 - $106,000. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
