Job Description
The Sr Desktop Virtualization Engineer will lead a team of engineers to design, implement, and deploy virtual desktop capabilities in the Azure Cloud.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must possess and Active SECRET or above DoD clearance to be considered.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide thought leadership and mentoring to team of virtual desktop engineers, including frequent collaboration with the Chief Engineer and other team leads
Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning the virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI) environment and management software.
Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures
Continually identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations in the VDI domain aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiencies, and lowering sustainment costs
Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security
Initiate frequent interactions with the team of virtual desktop engineers to identify areas of improvement and facilitate their career growth, including participation in annual performance reviews
Grow solution and team to support DoD Fourth Estate with a targeted community of 400k users
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience
Expertise with virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI): Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware Horizon, Amazon Workspace or other platforms
Experience managing teams of engineers, including mentoring and fostering communication and collaboration across the team
Experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure Functions
Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA
Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal
communication skills
Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP
