This position supports the Department of Defense (DoD) in managing AWS cloud operations to ensure efficient cloud-based system administration and security. The objective is to provide high-level AWS systems operations support while deploying, managing, and securing AWS workloads. Personnel will be responsible for managing cloud infrastructures, implementing best practices in security, and supporting the development and deployment of containerized applications and cloud-based systems.

Clearance Requirements
  • TS/SCI clearance required.
  • IAT Level II certification is required (Security+ or equivalent).
  • Must be willing and able to maintain required security clearances.

Essential Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the deployment, management, and operation of workloads in AWS environments, ensuring efficient and secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Implement security controls and compliance requirements using AWS security features and frameworks, adhering to industry best practices.
  • Utilize AWS Management Console and AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) to manage systems and workloads effectively.
  • Collaborate with development and testing teams to support the design, development, and deployment of containerized applications and cloud-based systems in AWS.
  • Develop and manage functional architectures using AWS tools, including Kubernetes, EKS, Lambda, and Diode.
  • Participate in team design sessions, daily scrum meetings, and other development meetings to provide ongoing input into system improvement, cloud optimization, and issue resolution.
  • Support cloud infrastructure management including patching, STIG, and upgrade processes for AWS cloud systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud migration best practices to support system transitions, including legacy system integration with modernized AWS environments.
  • Lead discussions with decision-makers, systems owners, and end-users to define operational requirements and objectives related to AWS cloud deployments.
  • Assist in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new cloud applications, containerized platforms, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Analyze and determine database and system structure requirements for AWS cloud workloads and manage cloud resource allocation for optimized cost-efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure systems are optimized for performance, security, and cost-efficiency, troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed.
  • Maintain system performance, ensuring minimal downtime, and support troubleshooting efforts as required.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant discipline with 2 years of experience may be substituted.

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of overall experience in AWS cloud systems administration, including deployment and management of workloads in cloud environments.
  • Proven experience in managing AWS infrastructure and systems, including security and compliance management.
  • Expertise in administering Microsoft and Linux-based platforms in AWS environments.
  • Experience with containerization tools, including Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
  • At least 3 years of experience with container orchestration and application deployment in AWS.

Certifications
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (Required).
  • Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification (Required).
  • Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA) - Preferred.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner - Foundational (Preferred).
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) - Preferred.
  • Additional certifications related to AWS services or container orchestration are advantageous.
