Amentum is seeking a Deputy Natural Resources Manager located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Deputy Natural Resources (NR) Manager reports to and takes direction from the NR Manager. This position is responsible for assisting the NR Manager in overall management of Natural Resources. NR Management is inclusive of, but not limited to:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Wildlife Management inclusive of a hunting & fishing program.
  • Forestry Management inclusive of a logging program.
  • Fish Habitat Management.
  • Providing technical recommendations and consultations on NR issues.
  • Preparing reports on fieldwork activities.
  • Overseeing the protection and proper stewardship of wetlands and threatened/endangered animal and plant species
  • Documenting agricultural and wildlife activities in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Conducting minor research projects as requested.
  • Managing the fishing program in accordance with federal and state rules and regulations.
  • Conduct NR tours and education of laypersons in NR specific subjects.
  • Must be proficient in the safe operation and maintenance of specialty equipment required to perform NR duties including boats, trailers, and agricultural equipment
  • Position is responsible for many of the manual tasks required in the maintenance of natural resources
  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the hunting program.
  • Removing and properly disposing of kill from roadways.
  • Removing nuisance animals.
  • Assisting in agricultural plantings, acreage mowing, and prescribed burning.
  • Repair, replacement, and installation of deer stands and waterfowl blinds.
  • Removal of invasive plant species.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in natural resource management, environmental science, forestry, or other applicable degree
  • Applicants who do not meet the educational requirements above must be willing to take continuing educational courses and training to build their professional knowledge, certifications, and experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have energy and excitement for maintaining and educating others on natural resources, a positive attitude, be proactive, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating systems.
  • US Citizen or Naturalized Citizen
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance
