WHAT IS DISA JITC TEC II?
DISA's mission is to conduct DODIN operations for the joint warfighter to enable lethality across all warfighting domains in defense of our Nation. DISA is a combat support agency of the Department of Defense (DoD). The agency is composed of more than 8,000 military and civilian employees. The agency provides, operates, and assures command and control and information-sharing capabilities and a globally accessible enterprise information infrastructure in direct support to joint warfighters, national level leaders, and other mission and coalition partners across the full spectrum of military operations.
Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) Test Evaluation and Certification II Services (TEC II) contract provides technical solutions for the DOD in support of Test and Evaluation (T&E) services and T&E enabling services. JITC's service requirements are categorized in the following areas: T&E Performance Requirements, T&E Capability Management Requirements, T&E Capability Requirements, and Overarching Contract and Task Order (TO) Requirements. TEC Services are provided to DoD Combatant Commanders/Services/Agencies, federal and state agencies, coalition partners, and commercial entities to aid in the design, development, acquisition, integration, deployment, operational use, and sustainment of new and enhanced Information Technology/National Security System capabilities.
SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Tester to join our Unified Capabilities Lab at the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). In this critical role, you will evaluate and test approved cybersecurity tools, ensuring the integrity and of systems and networks against potential cyberattacks. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding organizational platforms and networks by identifying vulnerabilities and recommending actionable security enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive security assessments of systems and networks to evaluate their cyber posture .
- Test and validate approved cybersecurity tools and applications to assess their effectiveness in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.
- Identify potential threats, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities within systems and platforms.
- Simulate cyberattacks to exploit identified vulnerabilities, assess potential risks, and determine the impact of exploits.
- Develop and implement remediation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
- Produce detailed reports outlining findings, methodologies, and actionable recommendations for improving security measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security improvements and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and policies.
- Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats, tools, and methodologies to enhance testing and assessment processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficiency in cybersecurity testing tools and techniques, including vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, or threat modeling.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, DISA STIGs).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities effectively.
- Experience in creating comprehensive documentation, including security assessment reports and remediation plans.
- Familiarity with government or military cybersecurity policies, procedures, and environments is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as CEH, CISSP, CISA, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.
Education:
Requires a Bachelor's degree; or an Associate's degree and at least 4 years of experience; a minimum of 60 semester hours of formal education working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of experience; or at least 8 years of experience is required. Additional certifications (other than those required for the position) in the area of specialization be substituted for experience or education but varies by certification. The degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum and experience must be related to the job duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions
• Government site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Strength Demands
• Light - 20 lbs. Maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 10 lbs. A job is light if less lifting is involved but significant walking/standing is done or if done mostly sitting but requires push/pull on arm or leg controls.
