Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers.

The Cyber Operations & Resiliency Department (CORD) focusses on providing cyber engineering support to a variety of US National Security Systems (NSS) cybersecurity capabilities. CORD personnel provide the Aerospace corporation with a staff of cybersecurity engineers for meeting customers' real-time/operational cybersecurity need and this position is focused specifically on engineering support to Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) capabilities of multiple systems within various space segments (e.g., space vehicle, ground station, etc.) as well as NSSs. This engineering support entails activities such as architectural design, analysis-of-alternatives, requirements gathering, solution development, implementation, technical support, and program support.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Colorado Springs, offering a hybrid work model that combines 3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.

What You'll Be Doing
  • You'll be working directly with government (military and/or civilian personnel) leadership and management to investigate and determine specific and detailed solutions and consult with customer representatives to demonstrate how these solutions will address their highest risk cybersecurity challenges. These solutions will include both the establishment of specific requirements for necessary technical solutions, and/or options for applying non-technical solutions to meeting the organization's largest cybersecurity challenges.
  • You'll be developing broad as well as in-depth technical studies on security products, security best practices, and risk mitigation plans and from those studies will produce reports, findings, as well as recommended solutions and Courses of Action (COAs) for various Aerospace customer organizations within the operational space technologies segment, operational weapon system segment, and the military acquisition segment
  • You'll be authoring broad cybersecurity policies and strategies designed to help the organization shore up specific cybersecurity gaps and/or areas of underperformance. Additionally, where cyber policies already exist, you will review and author specific and in-depth improvements to organization's current cybersecurity policies and strategies.
  • You'll be researching emerging cybersecurity technologies both COTS and GOTS and evaluating how and to what degree these emerging technologies can bolster the organizations overall cybersecurity based on the organization's specific cybersecurity/system architectures
  • You'll be monitoring real-world cyber threat actor activities and the techniques they are employing in order to better plan for the evolution of various DCO capabilities
  • You'll be meeting, briefing, collaborating directly with customer organization leaders/managers/technicians among the government, among organization contract support, and with fellow supporting FFRDCs in order to represent Aerospace capabilities specific to what you and your department can/will provide but also more broadly across the Aerospace corporation's wide breadth and considerable depth of capabilities to these organizations

What You Need to be Successful as a Engineering Specialist

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM
  • 8 years of experience in cybersecurity related positions
  • Proven specialization in the configuration, deployment , and support of a wide range of advanced cybersecurity defense solutions with a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on experience and documented proficiency in securing complex environments (e.g., intrusion detection systems (IDS),
  • Extensive experience with security information and event management (SEIM) systems, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions and configuring host systems to generate and forward comprehensive audit logs for effective threat detection and incident response.
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically/internationally approx. 15-20% if required.
  • This position requires an Active Top Secret Security Clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a TS/SCI clearance


How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following:
  • Advanced degree in STEM
  • 10-years' or more experience in cybersecurity related positions
  • Hold relevant certifications and have completed specialized training in SEIM solutions, and cybersecurity endpoint solutions demonstrating practical expertise in their implementation.
  • Experience designing and deploying networks, coding experience, cyber incident response experience, served as an Information System Security Manager (ISSM, or other designated cybersecurity positions),
  • Proven ability working with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS),
  • Experience with Host Based Security Solution (HBSS),
  • Knowledge and background with Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation processes,
  • cybersecurity assessment experience, producing RMF related artifacts/policies/guidance, and eMASS experience, etc.
  • Familiarity or working knowledge with general Information Technology (IT) experience such as providing systems administration, help desk support, data base administration, software development, writing scripts, etc.


We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
