Are you looking for a challenging Software Quality Engineer position working with an extremely talented software team developing the future of Navy EW systems now? Spectral is a seven-year $1.2B program to provide the U.S. Navy's next-generation SIGINT, EMW, and IO weapon system. The Spectral system is critical to the ability for our forces to fight and win in the increasingly sophisticated and complex EW threats of our adversaries.

We are seeking an experienced Software Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in ensuring our software products meet the highest standards of quality, security, and performance. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in modern DevSecOps practices and have a strong background in automated testing and quality assurance processes.

This role does not develop the code we deliver or the automated tests, or the CI/CD pipelines. But we are looking for someone with broad technical knowledge to be able to leverage these tools to find quality concerns and look for quality opportunities, as well as report objective quality metrics across the program. This may include writing scripts, tests, queries, and automation to help determine where quality changes are needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Automated Testing: Understand how to review automated testing, and leverage testing tools to use current technologies to find quality deficiencies and opportunities in the development cycle.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Leverage Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines using tools like Bitbucket, ensuring seamless code integration and deployment to identify quality coding and process issues; Be able to implement new quality gates as agreed to with management to improve quality.
  • Quality Reporting: Automate quality metrics reporting using tools like Jira and Xray to provide real-time insights into product quality.
  • Security Testing: Support and participate in security testing practices, integrating security checks into the CI/CD pipeline with tools like SonarQube.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements to increase efficiency and quality in software delivery.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation on test strategies, test cases, and test results to aid in transparency and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Trend-Analysis: Utilize existing development and test toolsets to drill into available data and perform trend analysis to focus quality improvement efforts and implement training, coaching, and tool improvements.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in software quality assurance, with a focus on automated testing methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of DevSecOps practices and how to apply them to enhance software security and quality.
  • Proficiency in using Jira for project management and issue tracking.
  • Experience with Bitbucket for source code management, particularly in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with test management tools like Xray for test case management and execution to find quality opportunities.
  • Familiarity with static code analysis tools like SonarQube for code quality assurance.
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Java, or similar, for test automation to be able to exploit technology to improve quality.
  • Must be able to work with a matrixed development team within a team environment
  • Must be able to present to the customer in front of a large audience.


Preferred Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Certification in software testing or quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB).
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) in the context of testing and deployment.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of performance testing and load testing tools.

Knowledgeable on Agile software development practices

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$68,400-$143,700
