Western Door Federal is seeking a Data Scientist in Fort Belvoir, VA. The objective of this work is to work as part of a team to complete data projects supporting analysis and visualization important to the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC).
This is a Hybrid position that will require 2 to 3 days a week on site on Fort Belvoir, VA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Support the investigation and processing of complex unstructured and semi-structured data to provide innovative solutions that help improve the customer's accuracy, efficiency, and costs by giving them better control of their processes and data to support critical decisions.
- Analyze algorithms to compute the time and memory size of different data science techniques for distributed, clustered, and cloud-based applications.
- Use various supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, especially data clustering techniques.
- Identify valuable data sources and automate mining/collection processes.
- Build ensemble models using learning algorithms to analyze large amounts of data/information to discover, articulate and predict trends and patterns.
- Develop conclusive insights using statistical methods.
Basic Qualifications:
- US. citizenship with a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- BS. or B.A. in a relevant quantitative and computational discipline (e.g., data science, statistics, computer science, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience performing data science and analytics (e.g., data visualization, statistical analysis, predictive analysis, and machine learning) with special emphasis on data aggregation/synthesis, data wrangling, data management, and prepping data for model consumption.
- Ability to work with team members to create reports and dashboards that provide insight, improve repeatability/automation, and extensibility.
- Ability to analyze large and complex datasets (structured and unstructured), with a strong aptitude for conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and combining spreadsheets using VBA, PowerQuery and/or SQL.
- Proficiency using, SQL, Power BI and Tableau and developing, maintaining, and reviewing dashboards for data visualization; working knowledge of Tableau administration and architecture.
- Proficiency in performing data wrangling, data manipulation, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling using Python and R.
- Knowledge of coding languages (e.g., C++, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g., AngularJS, Git).
- Experience with and knowledge of databases, data warehouse, database concepts.
- Familiarity with Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications and techniques.
- Strong consulting skills: identifying and addressing client needs, building relationships, creative problem-solving, driving initiatives forward.
- Proficiency using R/R Studio
Desired Skills:
- Active Secret clearance
- Demonstrated decision support and provider productivity experience with the Defense Health Agency or government health institution preferred demonstrable experience from commercial/industry organization accepted.
- MHS Genesis experience to include pulling reports.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Apps.
- Experience with cloud solutions for data science, such as Azure or AWS.
- Master's Degree + one (1) year of experience
- Familiarity with Agile (SAFe/Scrum) development methodologies.
