Department Summary:

The Modeling & Analysis Innovation Center is looking for a strategic thinking, collaborative individual to steward the future evolution of the MITRE SIMEXÔ capability and help grow experimentation broadly at MITRE. MITRE SIMEXsÔ, human-in-the-loop simulation experiments, is intended to evaluate and demonstrate concepts, tactics, techniques, and procedures across the DoD, DHS, and others by combining human operators with real and simulated systems in distributed test environments. The successful candidate will be expected to shape and grow our SIMEX work program and broader experimentation capabilities to be more responsive to our sponsor's needs. While housed in the Modeling & Analysis Innovation Center, this is a position that is expected to work collaboratively across MITRE and our sponsors. Roles & Responsibilities: The SIMEX Program Manager will serve as MITRE's strategic and technical leader for SIMEX housed within the Modeling & Analysis Innovation Center. Responsibilities include:
  • Steward of the MITRE SIMEXÔ capability and brand
  • Work with FFRDC Managing Directors and Department Managers to shape experiments for our sponsors, maintaining and growing the SIMEX line of business
  • Own the business model for SIMEX and the use of the Simulation Experimentation and Analysis Laboratory (SEAL)
  • Develop a strategy to broaden and develop MITRE SIMEX capabilities and supporting infrastructure and software
  • Identify, grow, and develop the team necessary to support experimentation across MITRE
  • Identify and prioritize needed research and other internal and external investment opportunities to further develop experimentation capabilities
  • Liaison with Lab Services to ensure experimentation infrastructure is maintained
  • Coordinate across experimentation capabilities within the Modeling & Analysis Innovation Center and across MITRE
  • Raise MITRE's external tech stature in experimentation
Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Technical expertise in experimentation design, simulation, and data analysis
  • Experience conducting human-in-the-loop experiments supported by simulation
  • Experience work-shaping and developing direct work proposals with the federal government
  • Experience shaping, developing, and leading work in experimentation and analysis across the federal government
  • Prior experience briefing to senior level internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven success in building teams, developing talent, and working across diverse perspectives
  • Secret clearance
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • External professional reputation in professional societies
  • History of publishing in scientific journals
  • Prior success in proposing and executing IR&D projects
