Systems Engineer Senior Advisor - Network Performance Management

Our work depends on a Systems Engineer Senior Advisor joining our team to evolve and maintain network infrastructure for the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration.
HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER SENIOR ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
• Responsible for the design, implementation, management and support of the organizations network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security and reliability of the network.
• Provides analysis related to the design, development, and integration of hardware, software, human-machine interfaces and all system level requirements to provide an integrated IT solution.
• Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems. Coordinates system development to include design, modeling, security, integration, and formal testing
• Monitors network performance and troubleshoots and resolves highly complex problems to maintain operating efficiency and ensure quality transmission service on the network.
• Provides recommendations for network improvements based on analysis and industry best practices.
• Prepares reports on network performance, security incidents and other key metrics.
• Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency
• Drives scalability and operability of supported systems/infrastructure
• Uses subject matter expertise to diagnose and solve issues and has authority to deviate from standard operating procedures.
• Maintains detailed documentation of network configurations, changes and procedures.
• Collaborates with cross functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
• Education: Master's Degree (Substitutions will be based on additional years of experience)
• Required Experience: 15+ years of related experience
• Required Technical Skills: Network Engineering, Network Monitoring, Performance Metrics, System Engineering, Network Design
• Security Clearance Level: DOE Q or TS
• Required Skills and Abilities: Written and Oral Communication; Organization, Problem Solving, Communication, Technical Documentation, and Teamwork.
• Preferred Skills
• Location: Germantown. MD

Salary and Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $152,729 - $206,633. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
