Overview
The Construction Manager oversees and coordinates construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role involves managing all aspects of the construction process, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and personnel supervision. This position will require deployment to disaster areas, with deployment within 48 hours of notification.

Job Responsibilities Project Planning
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resource requirements, and risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.
- Review project contracts, agreements, and specifications to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, contractors, and vendors as necessary.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, track expenses, and monitor costs.
- Implement cost-saving measures to maximize project profitability and minimize financial risks.
- Develop project schedules, critical path analyses, and milestone timelines.
- Sequence activities and allocate resources to meet project milestones and deliverables.
- Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Manage sourcing, bidding, purchasing, and logistics to maintain project schedules.
- Oversee on-site construction activities, including site preparation, building erection, and material and equipment installation.
- Ensure quality control inspections and compliance with safety standards.
- Select, hire, and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Oversee their work performance, scheduling, and quality assurance.
- Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain a safe working environment, minimizing accidents and injuries.
- Establish quality control measures and conduct inspections.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to standards, specifications, and customer expectations.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.
- Provide progress updates, address issues, and resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
- No direct supervisory responsibilities are required.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple tasks.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities to motivate and supervise teams.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for professional interactions with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in construction management software, scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project), and MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk management practices, and environmental compliance.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills with proactive issue resolution capabilities.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel and work in disaster-affected areas for extended periods, often in challenging conditions.
- Must live within driving distance of a metropolitan airport.
- Experience with sustainable construction practices and energy-efficient design principles.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and construction technology tools.
- Understanding of construction contracts, legal frameworks, and dispute resolution processes.
- Knowledge of construction finance, budgeting, and cost estimating techniques.
- Certification or training in occupational health and safety (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification).
- Experience working on international construction projects or in multicultural environments.
- Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience in a related field, or 10 years of experience in a related field.
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager or in a similar role, with a track record of managing projects of varying size and complexity.
- Must be able to obtain and sustain a Public Trust clearance.
