Koniag Management Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer/Data Analyst with a Secret clearance to support KMS and our government customer in Huntsville, AL. This position is a weekly hybrid schedule consisting of 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, assists in achieving data analysis milestones under an agile design and development process. The Data Engineer-Analyst must manage data analytics projects using Power BI to design and develop business intelligence solution efforts to support multiple complex Line of Business (LoB) projects. The Data Engineer-Analyst will partner with and assist project teams, including the Power Platform Developers, through all phases of the application development process in a DoD secure environment. Data Engineer-Analyst will develop, support, test, and maintain functionality, resolve issues, and enhance security.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze business requirements, functional requirements, and data specifications to develop.
  • Business Intelligence solutions that leverage MS SQL Server, Power Application, and Power BI.
  • Design and build reporting and transactional models.
  • Develop dashboards utilizing Power BI connecting to a SQL database.
  • Develop SQL procedures to perform data transformation.
  • Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software, including the timely resolution of production issues.

Must be familiar and efficient with the following transformation and load functions in Power BI software:
  • Selecting appropriate column data types.
  • Creating and transforming columns.
  • Grouping and aggregating rows.
  • Pivot, unpivot, and transpose data.
  • Convert semi-structured data to a table.
  • Create fact tables and dimension tables.
  • Identify when to use reference or duplicate queries and the resulting impact.
  • Merge and append queries.
  • Identify and create appropriate keys for relationships.
  • Configure data loading for queries.
  • Proficient using Power Query and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Power BI On-Prem Data Gateway.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven business acumen, exceptional interpersonal capabilities and possess an attention to detail.
  • Accomplish computing environment certificate relevant to the roles specified within six months of onboarding, specifically the PL-300, Power BI Data Analyst, or equivalent.
  • Provide meaningful business value through easy-to-comprehend data solutions and visualizations.
  • Prepare, Model, Visualize, and Analyze data to provide relevant reporting capabilities based on customer and business needs.
  • Collaborate with analytics and solutions teams to identify and acquire data as well as contribute to solution design and architecture reviews.
  • Incorporate all DOD security requirements at every level of modernization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of database architecture design patterns and complete application development lifecycle.
  • Hands on experience building end-to-end data and analytics solutions in each of the following areas: data modeling, data warehousing, reporting, and analytics.
  • Develop, document, and implement data models for transactional systems and/or reporting solution and dashboards.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Education:
  • BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Management or Computer Information Systems (MIS or CIS)

Experience:
  • 72 months related experience specific to the position requirements

Certification:
  • Must hold/obtain a CompTIA Security+ Certificate, or higher, prior to onboarding

Clearance:
  • Must have Active, Interim, or capable of obtaining SECRET before joining

Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
