Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Team Lead supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and advancement of critical systems, including the C-LAN, HSDN, and BlackLine networks.

The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic insight to oversee secure government IT infrastructure and facilitate mission-critical initiatives. This includes providing hands-on support, managing enterprise systems, and ensuring compliance with security and operational standards. As a liaison between DHS, the United States Secret Service (USSS), and contractors, the Systems Engineer will play a vital role in fostering collaboration and maintaining seamless operations within the DHS enterprise.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-impact environment, addressing complex challenges while directly contributing to national security initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
C-LAN / HSDN Responsibilities
• Provide on-site deskside support for 78 SecureView workstations, 1 C-LAN workstation, and 5 HSDN workstations.
• Manage operations across 6 C-LAN site locations and 1 HSDN site.
• Perform imaging for ThickClient and ThickVM systems.
• Coordinate and deploy equipment, including SecureView workstations, VoSIPs, Desktop SVTCs, and printers.
• Conduct system updates, patching, and troubleshooting for systems.
• Administer user accounts through Active Directory (e.g., unlocks, password resets, account re-enablement).
• Manage Active Directory (AD) computer accounts, DNS entries, SCCM devices, and DHCP leases.
• Conduct regular equipment inventories and maintain accurate records of C-LAN and HSDN assets.
• Assist with planning and building out new SCIF locations.
• Act as the primary liaison between SENS3 and USSS for technical and operational matters.
• Inform users of outages and configuration changes.
• Support AV and SVTC systems for intelligence-driven briefings and director-level crisis management.
• Orchestrate daily operations for contractors within the Cross Domain Multi-Level Security (CD-MLS) section.
BlackLine Responsibilities
• Deliver on-site deskside support for 57 SecureView workstations.
• Install, maintain, and manage a SecureView Management Server.
• Perform system updates, patching, and imaging for BlackLine systems.
• Manage Active Directory user accounts, DNS entries, and DHCP leases.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of BlackLine equipment and components.
• Manage the BlackLine Citrix environment, including domain controllers, file shares, Nessus scanning software, and Citrix Storefront.
• Ensure the functionality of Juniper switches and network cabling for BlackLine systems.
• Troubleshoot OWL file transfer devices to enable secure document transfers between networks.
• Assist with ATO and PoAM compliance requirements for BlackLine systems.

Required Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
◦ 8+ years of progressive systems engineering experience.
◦ Strong background in supporting secure government or enterprise systems.
◦ Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing large-scale IT operations.
• Technical Skills:
◦ Expertise in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and SCCM.
◦ Hands-on experience with SecureView workstations, Citrix Management, VMware, and Juniper switches.
◦ Familiarity with OWL file transfer devices and multi-level security systems.
• Certifications: Security+, CISSP, or other relevant certifications preferred.
• Clearance: Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.
