Job Description:
The Lead Systems Engineer (SE) will supervise a team supporting the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne and simulation lab communication platforms. The Lead SE will be a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project engineering and management. They will manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction on and off-site. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.

Job Description:
The Lead Systems Engineer (SE) will supervise a team supporting the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne and simulation lab communication platforms. The Lead SE will be a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project engineering and management. They will manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction on and off-site. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and present technical results for internal and external program meetings.
- Document and support design verification tests within lab, ground and flight test environments.
- Develop, track and present technical metrics.
- Evaluate requirements definition, flow-down and traceability.
- Analyze data from verification test efforts.
- Generate and maintain schedule for engineering activities.
- Maintain risk assessment and development of mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with Project Engineering and Program Management.
- Support training and development of new team members.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.
- Ability to identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
- Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Be able to write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Understand requirement traceability.
- Be able to prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
- Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process.
- Writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Conducting verification testing.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
- Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%. (Domestic/International)
- Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
- Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
- Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
- Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
- Leading projects and or task teams in the integration of systems and or subsystems in airborne and or lab environments.
- Experience creating system drawings, schematics and or signal interfaces.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with nine (9) years of prior Lead, Systems Engineering experience.
- OR Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of prior Lead, Systems Engineering experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Lead, Systems Engineering experience.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.

- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ Certification.
- CI Poly.
- Security+ Professional Certification.
