Purpose
LIS is looking for Spanish speaking professionals who can support our Over-the-Phone-Interpretation partnership (Lionbridge) with their incoming language request. Lionbridge supports over 200+ US based State and Local agencies that have Limited English Proficient (LEP) needs. In order to provide LEP populations with quality customer service and address inquiries for callers who prefer to receive customer service in languages other than English. Lionbridge provides its customers agents with the 24x7 ability to third-party conference with an over-the-phone interpretation service.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Provides telephonic interpretations for customer service inquiries in languages other than English. Telephonic interpretations may be from English to the target language or from the target language back to English.
- Maintains confidentiality of all interpretations and translations; protects the integrity of information concerning Personal Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (personal health records, etc.) while handling calls.
Minimum Qualifications
Native-level mastery/fluency of both languages (English and target), especially:
- An extensive vocabulary ranging from formal language to colloquialisms and slang.
- Industry-specific vocabulary, including medical terminology, legal, insurance, etc.
- 1-3 years of experience providing over-the-phone interpretation support.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with the public.
- Trained and competent in healthcare and health insurance terminology in support of CMS consumers.
- Experience in all phases of language interpretation.
- Confident telephone voice for interpretation of inquiries received via telephone.
- Demonstrated strong listening and memory retention skills, relay information accurately, thoroughly, and succinctly.
- Demonstrated understanding of the interpreter's role as a conduit to solve the problem and not as a problem solver.
- Ability to remain unbiased, objective, and impartial at all times.
