As an Accounts Payable Specialist for a government contractor, you will be responsible for processing, managing, and ensuring the timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices. The annual pay range for the Accounts Payable Specialist position is $55,000 to $80,000.
The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate's education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.

Toyon Research Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. As an Accounts Payable Specialist for a government contractor, you will be responsible for processing, managing, and ensuring the timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices. Your role will support our commitment to compliance with government regulations and contractual obligations while maintaining a strong focus on financial accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities will include:
- Accurate processing of vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and coding in accordance with contract terms and company policies.
- Reconciling vendor statements, researching and correcting discrepancies, and responding to all inquiries in a timely manner.
- Preparing and executing payment runs for checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit card payments, ensuring compliance with payment terms.
- Maintaining detailed records of all accounts payable transactions and related documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Assisting with external and internal audits by providing requested documentation and supporting materials.
- Maintaining positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, responding promptly to inquiries and resolving any billing or payment issues.
- Assisting in generating and maintaining reports on accounts payable status, outstanding liabilities, and cash flow forecasts.
- Working closely with other departments such as procurement and contracts to ensure accurate processing of payments and contracts.
- Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or CFO.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of accounts payable/accounting experience
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software
- Computer applications related to the work - Microsoft Office (Proficient), Deltek GCS, Unanet, or equivalent Accounting System experience
- Experience auditing and processing credit card bills
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with accountants, clients, and management
