About the Role
Redhorse Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to contribute to critical government initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in the complete system development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to implementation and testing, directly impacting mission-critical projects and enhancing how the government utilizes data and technology. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop comprehensive system requirements specifications.
- Lead design and development activities, guiding users in formulating requirements and advising on alternative approaches.
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical leadership for integrating requirements, design, and technology.
- Develop system architecture and system design documentation, ensuring alignment with DoDAF and SOA standards.
- Guide system development and implementation planning through the creation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
- Interact effectively with government representatives, addressing technical considerations and resolving problems/conflicts.
- Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure compatibility with defined system architectures.
- Contribute to the development of key system engineering documentation (System Engineering Plans, Initial Capability Documents, requirement specifications, Interface Control Documents).
- Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and design reviews.
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities.
- Define verification methods and evaluation criteria to ensure systems meet requirements.
- Develop system design solutions that meet requirements and fulfill functional analysis.
- Participate in interface definition, design, and configuration changes throughout the system lifecycle.
- Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements.
- Participate in establishing and gaining approval for system definitions (requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures, etc.).
- Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services and mechanisms.
- Implement comprehensive SOA solutions and develop architectural views using DoDAF standards.
- Review and approve system engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Capture interface designs in a common format and store data in a centralized repository.
- Assess program risks, determining probability of occurrence and consequences of failure.
- Plan verification efforts for new designs early in the development lifecycle.
- Establish a process to formally manage changes to requirements, ensuring traceability and stakeholder buy-in.
- Manage and ensure the technical integrity of the system baseline throughout the lifecycle.
- Support planning and test analysis for the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process.
- Support the development and review of JCIDS documents.
- Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, integration, and testing of system components.
- Develop scenarios and an Operational Concept that addresses operational, support, and disposal needs.
- Conduct quantitative analysis in non-functional performance areas (Reliability, Maintainability, etc.).
- Establish a process for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams.
Required Experience
- Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. (Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree).
- TS/SCI with Polygraph required to start.
Desired Experience
- Experience with specific government agencies or programs.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with specific modeling tools (e.g., Enterprise Architect).
- Advanced knowledge of specific Information Assurance standards and certifications.
- Experience in leading large-scale system integration projects.
