An Equipment Painter is responsible for preparing and cleaning surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion, including removing rust, dirt, and old coatings. Additionally, they are tasked with inspecting the work area, maintaining tools and equipment, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations. They also ensure that all painting work meets established quality standards, providing a smooth, protective finish that enhances both the appearance and functionality of the equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Equipment Painter: Pay commensurate with experience.

Equipment Painter Responsibilities Include:
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as necessary to ensure proper adhesion and a smooth finish.
  • Apply paint, coatings, and finishes to equipment and machinery using spray guns, brushes, rollers, or other approved techniques.
  • Select appropriate paint or coating materials based on equipment type, surface material, and required durability.
  • Inspect and assess equipment surfaces for defects or damages and recommend repairs prior to painting.
  • Operate and maintain painting tools, equipment, and spray booths in accordance with safety and operational standards.
  • Mix and match paints to achieve desired colors and finishes, following manufacturer specifications.
  • Adhere to quality standards to ensure uniform application and flawless finish on all painted surfaces.
  • Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials, including paints, thinners, and solvents, in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Perform touch-ups and repairs to maintain equipment appearance and functionality as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Equipment Painter Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in automotive or industrial painting preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an industrial, automotive, or equipment painter.
  • Proven experience working with various types of paint, coatings, and surface preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, including OSHA regulations, when working with hazardous materials.
  • Proficient in using painting equipment, including spray guns, compressors, and sandblasters.
  • Knowledge of different paint types, surface preparation methods, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct imperfections.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills for mixing paint formulas and calculating coverage requirements.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and maintaining a clean work environment.
